into
Expresses entry or enthusiasm
Two prepositions, in and to, spent so much time together that a union seemed the only respectable thing.
In nearly all of its uses, the fusion into suggests movement toward the center or inside, and its most usual position is after a verb of motion: Don’t drive the car into the ditch. She rushed into the room screaming.
In literal meanings, into typically denotes entry, introduction, insertion, superposition, or inclusion.
Figuratively it is used to talk about resultant states, activities, or conditions: How did you get into stamp collecting?
It’s also the preposition used to indicate arithmetic division: How many times will 7 go into 58?
