hypertexts

Interconnected digital texts

Hypertexts is the plural of hypertext—text displayed on a computer that contains links to other text, allowing readers to jump between related content rather than reading linearly.

The concept predates the web but became ubiquitous with it.

In academic contexts, hypertexts may refer to specific works or systems: Early hypertexts like HyperCard influenced web design.
