hyperfocus
Intense singular attention
Hyperfocus is intense, sustained concentration on a single task or subject, often to the exclusion of everything else.
The term appears frequently in discussions of ADHD, where it describes the paradoxical ability to focus deeply on engaging activities while struggling with routine tasks: I was in hyperfocus mode and didn't notice three hours had passed.
The verb hyperfocus follows naturally: She hyperfocuses on puzzles but can't sit through a meeting.
