snood
Netted hair holder
A snood is a net or fabric pouch worn at the back of the head to hold hair in place.
Popular in the 1940s as both practical and decorative, snoods have come and gone as fashion accessories: She tucked her hair into a crocheted snood.
The word also names the fleshy growth that hangs over a turkey's beak.
