Seizing an aircraft
Plane hijacking is the seizure of an aircraft by force or threat, typically to divert it to an unscheduled destination, hold passengers hostage, or use the aircraft itself as a weapon.
The term emerged in the mid-20th century as commercial aviation expanded: The plane hijacking ended when negotiators secured the passengers' release.
