lapdog

Thigh-warming companion canine

A lapdog is a small dog suited to being held in a person's lap—breeds like Chihuahuas, Pomeranians, and toy poodles.

Figuratively, a lapdog is someone who follows another's wishes without question, eager to please and unwilling to challenge: The senator accused the media of being the administration's lapdogs.
