gordita

Thick corn pocket

A gordita is a Mexican dish—a small, thick corn cake that's split open and stuffed with meat, cheese, beans, or other fillings.

The name comes from the Spanish word for "little fat one," describing the puffy shape.

Gorditas are popular street food in Mexico and at Mexican restaurants: I'll have two gorditas with carnitas.
