glass slide
Flat specimen carrier
A glass slide is a thin, flat piece of transparent glass used to hold specimens for examination under a microscope.
The sample is placed on the slide, often covered with a thinner piece called a coverslip, allowing light to pass through for magnification: The biology students prepared glass slides of onion cells.
In photography, glass slide can also refer to a photographic transparency mounted on glass for projection.
