gifting
Bestowing upon another
Gifting is the act of giving something as a gift.
The word has spread from corporate and marketing contexts—holiday gifting guide, gifting season—into general use, where it often replaces the simpler *give*: I'm gifting this to my sister.
Some find it pretentious or unnecessary, but it usefully emphasizes the gift aspect rather than mere transfer of possession.
