geocaches
GPS treasure boxes
Geocaches are hidden containers placed at specific GPS coordinates for others to find, part of an outdoor treasure-hunting game called geocaching.
They typically contain a logbook for finders to sign and sometimes small trinkets to trade.
Participants use GPS devices or smartphone apps to locate them: We found three geocaches on our hike today.
