g force
Astronaut's crushing sensation
G force is the force of acceleration or gravity on a body, measured in units equal to Earth's gravitational pull.
One g is normal gravity; fighter pilots may experience nine gs in tight turns, and roller coasters generate several gs at the bottom of drops.
High g forces can cause blackouts as blood drains from the brain.
The astronauts trained to withstand extreme g forces during launch.
