pressure suit
Pilot's protective wear
A pressure suit is a garment designed to protect the wearer in low-pressure environments, particularly at high altitudes or in space.
The suit maintains air pressure around the body, preventing the potentially fatal effects of exposure to near-vacuum conditions, such as the boiling of bodily fluids.
Pressure suits range from partial-pressure suits worn by high-altitude pilots to the full pressure suits used by astronauts during spacewalks.
The pilot donned his pressure suit before ascending above 50,000 feet.
