A flamer is someone who posts inflammatory, hostile, or provocative messages online, especially to provoke arguments: The forum banned several flamers who kept derailing discussions.
The term emerged in early internet culture alongside "flame war." Flamer is also offensive slang for an obviously or flamboyantly gay man—someone whose homosexuality is visibly apparent.
