Offensive gay term
Homo is a derogatory slang term for a homosexual person, typically a gay man.
The word is offensive when used by outsiders, though some gay people use it among themselves with ironic or reclaimed intent: Some homo on Twitter said my outfit was fabulous.
The term peaked in mid-20th century usage and now sounds dated alongside newer slurs. (Capitalized Homo is the biological genus.)
