fence lizard
Scaly post percher
A fence lizard is a small North American lizard commonly found basking on fences, rocks, and logs.
Several species in the genus *Sceloporus* bear this name, typically grayish-brown with keeled scales and, in males, bright blue patches on the throat and belly.
They're quick to dart away when approached.
