femora

Legs' longest bones

Femora is the plural of femur, the thighbone—the long bone extending from hip to knee, the largest and strongest in the human body.

The term appears almost exclusively in medical and anatomical contexts: X-rays revealed fractures in both femora.

Outside technical writing, the plural femurs is more common.
