A galah is an Australian cockatoo with distinctive pink and gray plumage, common across much of the continent.
In Australian slang, galah means a fool or idiot—someone who acts stupidly or talks nonsense: Don't be such a galah.
The insult draws on the bird's perceived silliness and its noisy, gregarious behavior.
