electrophotography

Copier imaging technology

Electrophotography is a printing and copying technology that uses light and electric charge to transfer images onto paper.

A photosensitive surface is charged, exposed to light (which discharges areas corresponding to the image), then dusted with toner that adheres to the remaining charged areas.

The toner is transferred to paper and fused with heat.

Xerography and laser printing are electrophotographic processes.
