e-mail

Send, not stamp

E-mail is electronic mail—messages sent between computers over a network.

The word functions as noun, verb, and modifier: I got your e-mail, e-mail me the details, my e-mail address.

The hyphenated spelling is older and more formal; email without the hyphen now dominates casual use.

As a mass noun, e-mail refers to the system itself: E-mail has largely replaced postal correspondence.
