drupes
Fleshy pit fruits
Drupes are fleshy fruits with a hard stone or pit enclosing a seed.
Peaches, cherries, plums, and olives are drupes—the flesh surrounds a woody shell that protects the seed inside.
Almonds and coconuts are also drupes, though we eat different parts of them.
The singular is drupe.
