HTML file header
Doctype is shorthand for document type declaration—a line of code at the beginning of an HTML file that tells web browsers which version of HTML the page uses.
The declaration ensures consistent rendering across browsers: Every HTML5 page begins with <!DOCTYPE html>.
Without a proper doctype, browsers may enter "quirks mode" and display pages unpredictably.
