digital signatures
Cryptographic identity verification
Digital signatures are cryptographic codes that verify a document's authenticity and the signer's identity.
Unlike a scanned handwritten signature, a digital signature uses encryption to prove the document hasn't been altered since signing.
They're legally binding in most jurisdictions and standard in contracts, software distribution, and secure communications: The contract requires a digital signature before processing.
