key pair
Public-private combination
A key pair is two mathematically related cryptographic keys—one public, one private—used together for encryption and authentication.
The public key can be shared freely; the private key must remain secret.
Data encrypted with one can only be decrypted with the other: Generate a new key pair for SSH access.
Key pairs enable secure communication without exchanging secrets in advance.
