SHA

Government hash function

SHA stands for Secure Hash Algorithm, a family of cryptographic functions that convert data into fixed-length strings of characters.

SHA-1 produces a 160-bit hash; SHA-256 and SHA-512 are more secure variants.

These algorithms verify data integrity—if even one bit changes, the hash changes completely.

The file's SHA-256 checksum confirmed it hadn't been tampered with.
