dehulled

Outer covering stripped

Dehulled means having the hull removed.

Hulls are the outer coverings of seeds, grains, or nuts—the papery skin on a peanut, the fibrous coat on a grain of wheat.

Dehulled grains cook faster and have a softer texture: dehulled barley, dehulled sunflower seeds.

The process is also called hulling or shelling.
