groat

Old silver coin

A groat was a small English silver coin worth four pence, minted from the 14th to 17th centuries.

The word survives mainly in the expression not worth a groat, meaning worthless or nearly so.

Groats (usually plural) also refers to hulled grain, especially oats or buckwheat, with the husk removed: steel-cut oats are groats chopped into pieces.
