husked

Stripped of covering

Husked describes something that has had its husk removed—the dry outer covering of seeds, grains, or nuts.

Corn is husked before cooking, and husked rice has had its rough outer layer stripped away.

The word can also work in reverse: a husked coconut might be one still wearing its fibrous shell, depending on context.

We bought pre-husked walnuts to save time.
