cryogen
Extreme cold liquid
A cryogen is a substance used to produce extremely low temperatures, typically by liquefying gases.
Liquid nitrogen, liquid helium, and liquid oxygen are common cryogens, used in medicine, physics research, and industrial applications.
The term comes from Greek roots meaning "frost-producing": The samples were preserved in a cryogen.
