coho

Pacific salmon species

Coho is a species of Pacific salmon, smaller than chinook but prized by sport fishers for its fighting spirit and by cooks for its firm, orange-pink flesh.

Also called silver salmon for its bright coloring, coho are native to waters from Alaska to California and have been introduced to the Great Lakes.

We caught three coho trolling off the coast this morning.
