pink salmon
Smallest Pacific salmon
Pink salmon is the smallest and most abundant of the Pacific salmon species, with distinctive pink flesh and a two-year life cycle.
The name refers both to the meat color and to the pinkish hue males develop during spawning.
Also called humpback salmon or humpy for the pronounced hump males grow on their backs when breeding.
Canned salmon is usually pink salmon.
