hymn tune
Church song music
A hymn tune is a melody composed or adapted for singing hymns in religious worship.
The term distinguishes the musical setting from the hymn text itself—the same lyrics may be sung to different tunes, and the same tune may carry different words.
Hymn tunes often have names independent of the hymns they accompany: The tune "Old Hundredth" is paired with the Doxology.
