gospel quartet
Church singing group
A gospel quartet is a four-person vocal group performing gospel music, typically in close harmony.
The form emerged in African American churches in the early twentieth century and became a cornerstone of both Black and Southern white religious music traditions.
Quartets usually feature tenor, lead, baritone, and bass voices: The gospel quartet sang at the revival meeting.
