chesspieces
Kings and pawns
The chesspieces are the figures used to play chess: king, queen, rook, bishop, knight, and pawn.
Each type moves according to specific rules.
The term sometimes distinguishes the more valuable pieces from the pawns: She lost two chesspieces but saved her pawns.
Also spelled as two words: chess pieces.
