brain hemisphere
Mind's lateral division
Either of the two symmetrical halves of the cerebrum, the largest part of the brain.
The left hemisphere generally controls the right side of the body and handles language and analytical tasks; the right hemisphere controls the left side and processes spatial awareness and creativity.
The hemispheres communicate through a thick band of nerve fibers called the corpus callosum.
Damage to the left brain hemisphere often affects speech.
