hemiparasite
Partially dependent organism
A hemiparasite is a plant that derives some but not all of its nutrients from a host plant while also performing its own photosynthesis.
Mistletoe is the classic example—it taps into a tree's vascular system for water and minerals but produces its own sugars through its green leaves.
The prefix hemi- indicates this partial dependence, distinguishing hemiparasites from full parasites that cannot photosynthesize at all.
