hemianopia

Half visual field

Hemianopia is blindness in half the visual field of one or both eyes.

The condition typically results from stroke, brain tumor, or other neurological damage affecting the visual pathways.

A person with hemianopia might see nothing to their left or right while retaining normal vision in the remaining field: After the stroke, her left hemianopia made reading difficult.
