blotters
Desk paper pads
Blotters are sheets of absorbent paper used to soak up excess ink from writing.
Before ballpoint pens, blotters were essential desk items.
The word extends to police blotters—daily logs recording arrests and incidents at a station house.
In drug slang, blotters are small squares of absorbent paper saturated with LSD: The blotters were dosed at 100 micrograms each.
