noncooperation

Refusing to collaborate

Noncooperation is the refusal to cooperate, especially as a form of protest against authority.

The term gained prominence through Gandhi's campaigns against British rule in India, where mass noncooperation—refusing to pay taxes, attend government schools, or buy British goods—became a powerful form of nonviolent resistance.

The workers' noncooperation brought production to a halt.
