shadow ban
Stealth platform silencing
A shadow ban is a form of online moderation where a user's content is hidden from others without notifying the user.
The person can still post, but their comments, videos, or profiles become invisible or harder to find.
Platforms rarely confirm shadow bans exist, leaving users to suspect them when engagement mysteriously drops: I think I got shadow banned—none of my posts are showing up.
