redact

Obscure sensitive text

To redact is to edit or prepare text for publication, but in contemporary usage it almost always means to censor by blacking out or removing sensitive information: The FBI released the documents with names and dates redacted.

Heavily redacted pages appear with large black bars obscuring portions of text.

The noun redaction refers to both the process and the result.
