bipolars
Mania-depression sufferers
Bipolars is informal, sometimes dismissive shorthand for people with bipolar disorder—a mental health condition marked by extreme mood swings between mania and depression.
The term reduces individuals to their diagnosis: The bipolars in my support group get it.
Many find this usage dehumanizing, preferring "people with bipolar disorder."
