inpatients
Admitted hospital patients
Inpatients are people admitted to a hospital or other medical facility for treatment that requires at least one overnight stay.
The term distinguishes them from outpatients, who receive care and leave the same day: The hospital has 200 beds for inpatients.
Inpatient can also function as an adjective: inpatient care, inpatient treatment.
