bins

Where trash goes

Bins are containers for storing or discarding things—storage bins hold items, trash bins hold waste.

In British English, bin is the standard word for what Americans call a garbage can or wastebasket: Put it in the bin.

To bin something is to throw it away: I binned the old magazines.

In data analysis, bins are ranges into which values are grouped for statistical purposes.
