baronetcy

Inherited British rank

A baronetcy is the rank or title of a baronet—a hereditary British honor ranking below baron but above knight.

Unlike peerages, baronetcies don't confer seats in the House of Lords.

The title passes through male lines: The baronetcy has been in the family since 1642.

A baronetcy can also refer to the period during which someone holds this rank.
