commonalty
The general public
Commonalty is the common people, as distinguished from nobility or those holding special rank.
The word appears in historical and legal contexts: the rights of the commonalty, lords and commonalty alike.
It can also mean a body of people sharing common characteristics or interests—the general membership of a corporation or guild, excluding officers.
The word is formal and somewhat archaic.
