Metal surface treatment
Anodized describes metal, usually aluminum, that has been treated with an electrochemical process to create a protective oxide layer on its surface.
The coating resists corrosion and wear, and can be dyed various colors: anodized aluminum cookware, the anodized finish on the laptop case.
The British spelling is anodised.
