Umbria
Tuscany's eastern neighbor
Umbria is a landlocked region in central Italy, known for its rolling hills, medieval towns, and religious significance—Assisi, birthplace of St.
Francis, lies within its borders.
Sometimes called "the green heart of Italy," it neighbors Tuscany but draws fewer tourists.
We spent a week in Umbria visiting hilltop villages.
