King Triton
King Triton is the fictional sea king and father of Ariel in Disney's *The Little Mermaid* (1989).
He rules the underwater kingdom of Atlantica, wielding a magical trident and initially opposing his daughter's fascination with the human world.
The character draws on Triton from Greek mythology, a merman son of Poseidon, though Disney's version is the dominant cultural reference today.
