Styx

Ferryman's dark crossing

Styx is a river in Greek mythology that separates the world of the living from the underworld.

The dead cross it to reach Hades, ferried by Charon.

Gods swore their most binding oaths upon it.

The river lends its name to anything marking a boundary between life and death, or a point of no return: crossing the Styx.
