Thetis
Nereid who mothered
Thetis is a sea nymph in Greek mythology, one of the Nereids and mother of Achilles.
She famously dipped her infant son in the river Styx to make him invulnerable, holding him by the heel—which remained his only weak spot.
Zeus and Poseidon both desired her but withdrew after learning her son was fated to be greater than his father.
Thetis begged Zeus to avenge the insult to her son.
